Would Superbowl bring the icing on the cake for street musician Passenger?

Mike Rosenberg - Passenger
By Emmanuel K. Dogbevi

He is known as Passenger, the one-man band. When he told his parents he wanted to do music, their initial response was to despair. But he persisted. However, he only could become a street musician, touring and playing on the streets of European countries, sometimes running into turf wars with other street musicians.

But it looks like after playing on the streets for five years, some luck might be smiling on Passenger. His most widely received music was used for one of the successful Superbowl commercials for 2014.

His song 'Let her go' was the score for Budweiser's 'Puppy Love' commercial, which featured a puppy and horses.

The song was released in 2012 on the album,‘All the Little Lights’.

Before making it to the Superbowl, in 2013 the song was number-one in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

In the UK, it was number two, number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on Billboard Hot Rock Songs in the United States.

'Let her Go' reportedly has sold over one million digital copies in the UK, and over two million in the US.

Writing for the New York Daily News, David Boroff comments, " The Seahawks may have pummeled the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday night, but an adorable puppy stole the show.

A Budweiser commercial featuring a little Labrador retriever's love for a Clydesdale horse scored huge points among fans and advertising experts alike."

Views for Passenger's official Youtube video of the song have soared after the Superbowl,  hitting over 200 million.

The folk singer is a great musician with his own style, even though he thinks he sings sorrowful songs, he told an audience at a concert in the UK.

Would the Superbowl success begin Passenger's journey into the Hall of Fame of folk?
